Yr 11 student Avi Margolis has been awarded the prestigious Pierre de Courbertin award 2017. Pierre de Courbertin was the founder of the modern Olympic Games (1896). His vision was to create a worldwide sporting competition with values of fairness and sportsmanship at its core. The Australian Olympic Committee present the Pierre de Courbertin Award to a number of students in Australia each year who epitomise sporting excellence in a chosen field whilst maintaining high standards of sportsmanship, fairplay and comradery between athletes. Avi has been recognised for his excellence in Trampolining and through his commitment to assisting others to achieve their best, be that in ACC Sport, House activities or in other performance activities at Carmel School. Avi was presented with his certificate, book prize and commemorative pin by Mrs Lisa Lilleyman from the WA Olympic Committee.
