Sculpture by the Sea Enjoyed By Year 8s

The Year 8 Visual Arts students were fortunate to view the Sculpture by the Sea exhibition at Cottesloe Beach in Week 5.
They meandered through all the wonderful sculptures learning about the considerations artists need to contemplate when creating outdoor sculptures, like materials that can withstand the outdoor elements. One of the most impressive sculptures was a giant wave built out of scaffolding. Artist Jarrod Taylor was on site securing his sculpture and was kind enough to talk to the students. He said he chose this material because he knows it best as he works with scaffolding in his day job. Making an organic shaped wave out of such a hard geometric material was a challenge he set himself and we all agreed he succeeded.
